Engineering and Technology
In this course, built in collaboration with IBM and Hashicorp, you'll learn how to use Swift as a server-side language for building end-to-end applications.
In the Server-Side Swift course on Udacity, you will learn how to run Swift locally and on the server, configure Swift on macOS and Linux, and use the Swift Package Manager. You will also build simple Swift servers, develop a microservices mindset, and learn how to run a monolithic Swift service. Additionally, you will learn how to split a monolith into microservices and plan a new iOS app using a microservice-based backend. The course will also cover building a Swift microservice, creating a CRUD-based microservice in Swift, and interacting with a MySQL database from Swift. You will also learn how to add paging and transaction support to a service. Furthermore, you will learn how to create an authentication microservice using Facebook's AccountKit and generate JSON web tokens (JWTs) for use across services. Finally, you will learn how to build custom middleware to validate JWTs.
