In the course Communicating with Natural Language on Udacity, you will learn the fundamentals of Voice User Interfaces (VUI) and how computers understand spoken words. You will also gain familiarity with various VUI applications and set up your AWS account to build an Alexa skill using pre-existing templates. Additionally, you will delve into the history of Alexa and learn how to create your own fully functional Alexa skill using Amazon's API. The course will introduce you to speech recognition, teaching you the pipeline used for this process and how to extract features from sound signals. You will also learn to build probabilistic and machine learning language models to extract words and grammar from sound signals. As part of the course project, you will build a deep neural network that functions as an end-to-end automatic speech recognition (ASR) pipeline. This model will convert raw audio into feature representations and transcribe them into text. You will begin by exploring a dataset for training and evaluating your models, converting raw audio to commonly used ASR features, and then building neural networks to map these features to transcribed text.
