The Introduction to SQL course on Udacity covers the fundamentals of SQL, including writing common SQL commands such as SELECT, FROM, and WHERE, and using logical operators like LIKE, AND, and OR. Students will also learn about SQL JOINs and how to combine data from multiple sources to answer complex business questions. The course covers SQL aggregations, including common aggregations like COUNT, SUM, MIN, and MAX, as well as working with NULLs and using CASE and DATE functions. Students will also learn about SQL subqueries and temporary tables, and how to run multiple queries together and access tables with more than one query. The course also covers SQL data cleaning strategies, including normalizing data and creating columns from existing data. Students will learn about SQL window functions and how to use them for analysis tasks that require further targeting or segmentation. The course also covers advanced JOINs and performance tuning, teaching students how to write queries that run quickly across large datasets and optimize query performance. The course concludes with a project where students act as data analysts for an organization focused on reducing deforestation. Students will clean data, join tables, and perform calculations to analyze forest size and deforestation trends in different countries and regions, and will compile their findings into a report for stakeholders.
