Purpose and Rationale

Purpose: The purpose of the qualification is to develop the applied and practical competences of learners in the acquisition, understanding, and application of Business Management principles. It provides an intensive, focused, and applied specialization within the field of Business Management. This ensures that qualifying learners have a deep and systematic understanding of current thinking, practice, theory, and methodology in the field of Business Management and the world of business. Upon completion of the qualification, the learner will be able to:

  1. Contribute to the development, growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of organizations through innovation and creativity.
  2. Plan, lead, organize, control, formulate, strategize, execute, measure, and improve business processes, practices, systems, and solutions.

  4. Comply with good governance, strong ethical principles, and quality performance standards when implementing, managing, and improving business practices.

Rationale: The Advanced Diploma in Business Management will enable learners to progress in their careers within which they are currently employed or for those wishing to enter the market with a competitive edge.     • Explanation of how internal creativity and innovation can assist organizations to expand locally, nationally, and internationally.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 2:

  • Concepts of Strategic Management:
    • Definition and explanation of how strategic management can improve business performance.
  • Implementing Strategy:
    • Identification and discussion of how implementing strategy can assist management in formulating, planning, executing, measuring, and improving business processes and practices.

  • Sound Financial Practices:
    • Implementation of sound financial practices through research to create sustainable business environments.
  • Efficient and Effective Solutions:
    • Conducting and analyzing research to develop efficient and effective processes, systems, and solutions for businesses.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 4:

  • Managerial Leadership Characteristics:
    • Identification and description of the characteristics of managerial leadership.
  • Improving Performance Standards:
    • Discussion of methods to improve performance standards by implementing, managing, and improving management business practices.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 5:

  • Importance of Human Resources Management:
    • Explanation of the importance and function of Human Resources Management in an organization.
  • Significance in Designing and Managing Programs:
    • Explanation of the significance of Human Resources Management in designing and managing programs and policies.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Assessment takes place in accordance with the Assessment Policy of the Institution.
  • Three summative assessments will be conducted during the qualification, with one final summative assessment at the completion of each module.
  • Assessment methods include observation of tasks, evaluation of products, and questions (oral or written).
  • Assessment activities are accompanied by a memorandum/assessment marking guide.
  • The weight of each assessment opportunity is predetermined to integrate the outcomes.
  • The number and range of assessment methods used are included in the Learning Guides.
