Purpose and Rationale

This qualification will produce much-needed professionals to enter or to specialise in the fields of hydrology, geo-hydrology and water resources management.

Outcomes

  1. Produce a detailed research mini dissertation based on research and project work.
  2. Present orally on aspects of the research.
  3. Write reports on sub-areas and subproblems of the research topic.
  4. Demonstrate competence in specific areas of the field under study, including field and laboratory-based practical exercises.
  5. Present group work.

Assessment Criteria

Integrated Assessment:

  1. Research Mini Dissertation:

    The research mini dissertation will involve a detailed study on a specific topic within the field of interest. It will include a comprehensive literature review, research methodology, data analysis, and discussion of findings. The dissertation will demonstrate critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to synthesize information from various sources.

  2. Oral Reporting on Aspects of Research:

    Students will be required to present key aspects of their research in an oral presentation. This will test their ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, respond to questions from peers and faculty members, and defend their research findings.

  3. Regular Written Reports on Sub-areas and Subproblems:

    Throughout the course, students will submit regular written reports focusing on sub-areas and subproblems related to their research topic. These reports will demonstrate their understanding of specific issues within the field, as well as their ability to analyze and interpret data.

  4. Demonstrated Competence in Specific Areas:

    Students will participate in field and laboratory-based practical exercises to demonstrate their competence in specific areas of the field under study. This may include conducting experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results. These practical exercises will provide hands-on experience and reinforce theoretical concepts learned in class.
