Qualification Overview

Purpose:

The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to:

  • Support and implement procedures and systems
  • Promote best Human Resource Management (HRM) practices in the organisation
  • Identify skills requirements (workforce planning) of the organisation
  • Acquire an understanding of people dynamics and its impact in the workplace on productivity
  • Ensure compliance with Human Resource legislation and trends

Rationale:

This qualification addresses critical and scarce skills in the country, with learning and development, as well as Human Resource Management (HRM) being recognized as vital skills. It aligns with the requirements of the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework and replaces the Bachelor of Technology Human Resource Management at NQF Level 7. The qualification provides a path to higher qualifications for learners completing a Diploma in Human Resource Management at NQF Level 6. Additionally, it prepares learners for registration with the professional body South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) and empowers learners with core Human Resource Management skills aligned with best practices and quality standards.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 1:

  • Correct identification of processes and practices relevant to HRM.
  • Application of best practices for acquisition, development, and utilization of people in the organization.
  • Identification of organizational policies and procedures related to compensation and administration.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 2:

  • Correct identification of the flow of HR processes within the organization.
  • Application of best practices in executing HR processes.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 3:

  • Exploration of different learning strategies to address skills deficiencies in the organization.
  • Correct application of different learning and development legislation.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 4:

  • Understanding of organizational politics.
  • Understanding of organizational culture and its impact on the dynamics within an organization.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 5:

  • Formulation of Labour Relations Act (LRA) and Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) compliant employment policies.
  • Implementation of LRA and BCEA to ensure labor productivity and stability.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Three formative assessments contributing 50% of the final examination mark.
  • Summative assessment (examination) at the end of the academic year contributing 50% of the final examination mark.
