The University of Johannesburg is a recognized provider of technology-based extraction metallurgy technicians and technologists in the country. The decision to phase out the National Diploma and Bachelor of Technology led the Department of Metallurgy to introduce two ECSA-standard three-year professional Bachelor Degrees, known as the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (B Eng. Tech). This new qualification is a step toward aligning all technology-based engineering qualifications offered by the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment with the updated requirements of professional bodies for Engineering Technologist training. The Bachelor of Technology in Extraction Metallurgy will prepare learners for careers in engineering and related fields, fostering technological proficiency, contributing to the economy, and supporting national development efforts.
