This qualification focuses on solving the social and health problems in rural and urban communities in Southern Africa through its diversified qualification, using problem-based learning, community projects, and project-driven curricula.

  • Program blends mechanistic and quantitative western approach with Eastern and Indigenous qualitative approaches.

Outcomes

  1. Independently design, evaluate and manage recreational programmes.
  2. Independently design a community recreation project with the industry.

  • Recreational programmes are independently evaluated using appropriate scientific methods and techniques.
  • Recreational programmes are effectively managed.
  • Design, manage, plan, advise and execute a community project of own choice.
  • Identify, solve and display responses to problems.
  • Make responsible decisions using critical and creative thinking.
  • Display working effectively with others as a member of a team, group, organisation, community.
  • Demonstrate organising and managing oneself and one's activities responsibly and effectively.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 2:

  • Compile and conduct recreational leadership training programmes for specific target groups.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the world as a set of related systems.
  • Contribute to the full development of each learner and the social and economic development of society.
  • Participate as a responsible citizen in the life of local, national and global communities.
  • Demonstrate cultural and aesthetic sensitivity across a range of social contexts.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 3:

  • Conduct scientific research in the field of Community Recreation/Commercial Recreation with entrepreneurial skills potential.
  • Collect, analyse, organise and critically evaluate information.
  • Effectively and critically use science and technology, showing responsibility towards the environment and health of others.
  • Explore education and career opportunities.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 4:

  • Reflect upon and explore a variety of strategies to learn more effectively.
  • Develop entrepreneurial opportunities.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Conduct integrated theoretical examinations at the end of each module.
  • Consist of evaluation on theory and/or case studies.
  • Use practical and theoretical assignments (group and/or individual) as well as theoretical tests throughout the learning process.
  • All students must submit a dissertation that will be evaluated and integrated into the final marks for the level.
