Purpose and Rationale

Learning Objectives:

  1. Introduction to Human Resource Management:

    • Familiarize learners with the field of human resource management and equip them with the skills to balance human needs with corporate needs effectively.
  2. People Management in Achieving Organizational Goals:

    • Sensitize learners to the pivotal role managers play in achieving organizational goals through effective utilization of human resources.
  3. Understanding Organizational Dynamics:

    • Highlight the importance of understanding the complex and ever-evolving nature of organizations when working with Human Resources.
  4. Research Methodology in Problem-Solving:

    • Train learners in applying research methodology to search for answers and approach problem-solving tasks efficiently within the realm of Human Resource Management.

Outcomes

  1. Ability to understand, analyse and critically assess related Human Resources issues.
  2. Could manage Human Resources in Private and Public Sector but would most likely find employment within the Public Sector.
  3. Could become a Consultant or a training specialist. B.Comm (IPS):

  5. Ability to manage Human Resources in both the private and Public Sectors.
  6. Ability to become more Self-reliant, in that the Learner might start a business and do consultancy work. Dip HRM:
  7. Ability to understand published data on Human Resource issues and be analytical and critical in their thinking.
  8. Ability to know how Human Resources should be managed to attain corporate goals.
  9. Ability to have an understanding of the complex and ever-changing environment of Human Resources Management. Cert. HRM:
  10. Ability to have a sensitivity towards the uniqueness of the individual employee and his human needs, in order to explain the importance of appropriate leadership style.
  11. Ability to understand the necessity for matching the job with the individual worker. Specify critical cross-field outcomes: To train learners, in combination with other disciplines, like business management, labour law, public administration, etc. as an entrepreneur/manager, how to manage human resources, within the constraints of economics and other societal boundaries.

B. Admin (Personnel):

  1. Qualification is awarded on successful completion of all the prescribed modules up to third year level.

B. Comm (IPS): 2. Qualification is awarded after successful completion of all the prescribed modules up to third year level.

DipHRM: 3. Qualification is awarded after successful completion of all the prescribed modules up to second year level.

Cert, HRM: 4. Qualification is awarded after successful completion of all modules in year one.

Integrated assessment incorporated to ensure that the purpose of the degree is achieved:

  1. Portfolios
  2. Simulations
  3. Written examinations
  4. Oral examinations: Case Studies, Group Discussions and Business Games.
