Business, Commerce and Management Studies - Finance Economics and Accounting
Purpose:
The programme aims to produce graduates who are equipped to enter the Management and Business fields by providing a solid foundation in Commerce and Business knowledge, theory, and skills. Graduates will be prepared to pursue various occupations and thrive in local, national, regional, and global business and public sector economic environments. The qualification offers specialized knowledge in accounting, business law, and statistics, as well as a range of specializations tailored to specific business niches. This allows learners to customize their learning to different contexts while ensuring a strong grasp of core principles in their chosen discipline.
Rationale:
South Africa, like many developing countries, faces a shortage of skilled professionals, particularly in entrepreneurship and management. This qualification addresses the need for individuals with expertise in financial management to sustain businesses. Graduates will be able to integrate management theory with technical and professional skills, enabling them to compete effectively in the global business landscape. Furthermore, the qualification provides a pathway to higher education and addresses the demand for competent middle and senior managers in both public and private sectors.
