Purpose and Rationale

Purpose of Qualification

The purpose of the qualification is to provide students with the necessary background to pursue further studies in philosophy, particularly for those interested in obtaining a Master of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Zululand or pursuing postgraduate studies in philosophy at other institutions. This qualification aims to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to engage critically and analytically with philosophical concepts and theories, preparing them for advanced academic exploration in the field of philosophy.

Assessment Criteria

For the Integrated Assessment, there will be both written and oral examinations. The written component will consist of 12 essays spread out over the course of the year. These essays will be crucial in determining the Semester mark, which will contribute 50% towards the final grade.
