Purpose and Rationale

Postgraduate Skills Development Objective

The goal is to enhance the reading, writing, thinking, and analytical skills of postgraduate learners. Furthermore, it aims to cultivate critical, interpretative, and evaluative abilities within the framework of specialized and intensive courses beyond what was provided at the undergraduate level.

Outcomes

  1. Highly developed communicative competence in English.
  2. Highly developed analytic, interpretative and evaluative abilities.
  3. A developed sense of scholarship in the field and of themselves as positioned in relation to other scholars.
  4. The beginning of a sense of independent intellectual endeavour.

Assessment Criteria

Integrated Assessment Approach:

  • A broad spectrum approach to assessment will be followed.
  • The outcomes will culminate in the compilation of an Honours portfolio.
  • Oral presentations and more extended written work will be encouraged.
  • Emphasis will be placed on engaging in more extended research.
  • External examiners will be involved in the evaluation process to ensure quality and fairness.
