Purpose and Rationale

Overall Degree Statement:

It focuses on equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the discipline, including a deep understanding of animal biology, behavior, ecology, and evolutionary processes. Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and principles of Zoology, with particular reference to the areas of evolution, anatomy, physiology, ecology, biodiversity and living resource management.
  2. Use scientific knowledge and skills to design and test hypotheses, and to solve problems in innovative ways, using appropriate principles, tools, techniques and logical reasoning.
  3. Conduct independent research in zoological and environmental phenomena and communicate their own understanding of these principles and issues.
  4. Work effectively in a team to achieve a set purpose.
  5. Be able to read, understand and synthesise relevant information effectively in English.
  6. Use science and technology effectively and safely, while showing responsibility to the environment and the health of others, in the field as well as in the laboratory.
