Requirements for Completion:

1. Pass the required number of modules in computer science with in-depth academic study.

   • Assessment criteria: Accuracy and lucidity in answers to examination questions, and clear evidence of understanding theoretical concepts.

2. Submit an Honours project deemed satisfactory by internal and external examiners.

   • Assessment criteria:
     • Understanding of basic principles
     • Accuracy of factual material and reasoning
     • Ability to relate course content to the problem being discussed
     • Sensible reference to other information sources
     • Clarity of presentation

3. Demonstrate competence in outcomes 1-9:

   • Write logical and coherent essays, assignments, and research reports in a timely manner
   • Contribute to class discussions
   • Satisfactorily answer examination questions
   • Undertake an independent research project under staff supervision

4. Assessment of outcome 10:

   • Criteria: General demeanor and etiquette
   • Indicators: Commitment to studies and awareness of interactions with others

• The University of Natal is transitioning to assess applied competence for each qualification.
• Current assessment methods include continuous assessment and traditional written examinations to evaluate integration of learning outcomes.
• The Honours Project serves as a "capstone" to showcase the ability to integrate theory, techniques, and methodologies to solve problems or advance theory.
