Purpose and Rationale

Summary of Qualification Objectives:

  • Develop intellectual abilities in acquiring, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding:

    • Complexity of inter-functional relationships within organizations.
    • Interaction between marketing and other functions within organizations.
    • Functional disciplines within organizations and their contributions to organizational success.
  • Develop skills in:

    • Creating a learning strategy.
    • Conducting a comprehensive bibliography.
    • Analyzing and critically evaluating data and information.
    • Using technology ethically for data collection and processing for academic research.
    • Working both individually and in teams.
    • Communicating effectively using various technologies.
  • Prepare learners for:

    • Pursuing a Master's qualification.
    • Careers in marketing across a variety of organizational types such as business/non-profit, private/public, and large/small organizations.

Assessment Strategy:

Continuous Assessment (Levels 5b and 6):

  • Assignments and projects (30% of total mark)
  • Class presentations, participation in class discussion, and assignments (50% of total mark)

Final Assessment:

  • Examination for each module (70% of total mark at levels 5b and 6, 50% at level 7)

The institution is moving towards assessing applied competence for each qualification. In the meantime, a combination of continuous assessment and traditional written examinations is used to evaluate the integration of learning outcomes in each module.
