Health Sciences and Social Services - Curative Health
PRIMARY PURPOSE
To equip qualifiers with specialized knowledge, skills, and competency in Community Dentistry for them to be eligible for managerial roles in Public Health services.
To supply the Public Health services in South Africa with competent auxiliary personnel who can operate effectively at both administrative and clinical levels.
SUBSIDIARY PURPOSE
To cultivate potential teaching staff for the dental schools in South Africa.
To evaluate the attainment of exit-level outcomes, a combination of formative and summative assessments is conducted over the two-year study period. These assessments encompass various activities such as seminars, research projects, practical experience in public oral health services, portfolio submissions, and written/oral tests and examinations.
For knowledge assessment, samples of the qualifier's knowledge are tested to determine the depth and breadth of understanding. Through these assessment methods, the qualifier must demonstrate compliance with the NQF level 7 standards.
