Business, Commerce and Management Studies - Human Resources
The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifying learners with applied competence on a senior level in the mastering, analysis, interpretation, and understanding of organizational development and human resources management principles and methods. The qualification could put the learner in a position to work as a human resource practitioner or a manager in organizations.
Problem Solving Skills: Learners must demonstrate their ability to identify and solve problems in economic, business, and people management by applying theoretical and practical principles and reflecting on the application made.
Research Skills: Learners should understand and apply research principles in the field by gathering, analyzing, synthesizing, and interpreting information on economic, business, and people management, reflecting on the implications of findings of other researchers.
Communication Skills: Learners must effectively communicate orally and in writing with various role players in the field by applying theoretical communication principles and reflecting on the application made.
Development of Macro-Vision: Learners should develop an accountable theoretical and practical macro-vision of economic, business, and people management at different levels.
Entrepreneurship: Learners must organize and coordinate resources effectively in the field, applying relevant theoretical aspects and reflecting on the application.
Self-Responsibility Skills: Learners should use initiative and accept responsibility for their activities in the field.
Teamship: Learners must practice social sensitivity and work effectively in a team by implementing relevant theory and reflecting on the implementation.
Technological and Environmental Literacy: Learners must utilize appropriate technology effectively in the economic, business, and people management environment.
Explore Learning Strategies: Learners should explore different learning strategies to acquire skills within the field.
Promoting Citizenship: Learners must promote responsible citizenship through the application of theoretical principles in the field.
Cultural and Aesthetic Sensitivity: Learners should demonstrate social, cultural, and aesthetic sensitivity towards different role players in the industry.
Employment Skills: Learners must demonstrate acceptable employment seeking skills for entry into different sectors of the industry.
Formative Assessment: Continuous assessment via written assignments will be utilized as an entry requirement for exams. Lecturers' formal assessments will contribute at least 40% to the summative assessment. A minimum mark of 40% is required for entry into summative assessment.
Self-Assessment: Learners will participate in self-assessment of written assignments and discussion forums, counting for not more than 10% of their final mark.
