Purpose and Rationale

The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifying learners with applied competence on a senior level in the mastering, analysis, interpretation, and understanding of organizational development and human resources management principles and methods. The qualification could put the learner in a position to work as a human resource practitioner or a manager in organizations.

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate their competence at applying the theoretical principles of problem identification and solving in the field of economic, business and people management and reflecting on the application made (problem-solving skills)###

Understand and apply the principles of research in the field of economic, business and people management, including the gathering, analysing, synthesising and interpretation of information on economic and business management issues correctly by utilizing the relevant theoretical research principles and reflecting on the research, the implications of the research (research skills)###
  3. Communicate effectively orally and in writing with the different role players in the field of economic, business and people management by applying the theoretical principles of communication and reflecting on the application made (communication skills)###

Assessment Criteria

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcomes:

  1. Problem Solving Skills: Learners must demonstrate their ability to identify and solve problems in economic, business, and people management by applying theoretical and practical principles and reflecting on the application made.

  2. Research Skills: Learners should understand and apply research principles in the field by gathering, analyzing, synthesizing, and interpreting information on economic, business, and people management, reflecting on the implications of findings of other researchers.

  3. Communication Skills: Learners must effectively communicate orally and in writing with various role players in the field by applying theoretical communication principles and reflecting on the application made.

  4. Development of Macro-Vision: Learners should develop an accountable theoretical and practical macro-vision of economic, business, and people management at different levels.

  5. Entrepreneurship: Learners must organize and coordinate resources effectively in the field, applying relevant theoretical aspects and reflecting on the application.

  6. Self-Responsibility Skills: Learners should use initiative and accept responsibility for their activities in the field.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Formative Assessment: Continuous assessment via written assignments will be utilized as an entry requirement for exams. Lecturers' formal assessments will contribute at least 40% to the summative assessment. A minimum mark of 40% is required for entry into summative assessment.

  • Self-Assessment: Learners will participate in self-assessment of written assignments and discussion forums, counting for not more than 10% of their final mark.

Summative Assessment:

  • Integrated assessment will be done through written examinations for all modules, negotiated with learners at the outset. A final mark will be calculated based on the average of modular and exam marks.
