Purpose and Rationale

BMil Programme in Technology and Defence Management

Purpose:
The purpose of the BMil Programme in Technology and Defence Management is to establish a solid foundation in Education, Training, and Development for members of the Department of Defense (DoD). This program aims to provide individuals who have obtained their BMil degree with the opportunity to advance their military careers. Additionally, it serves as a pathway for prospective students to articulate to postgraduate studies after successful completion of the degree.

Rationale:
The rationale behind this program is to equip selected officers of the South African National Defence and other foreign defence forces with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to effectively manage technology within the socio-political and organizational setting of a department of defense. By merging the existing Programme in Technology and Management with the Programme in War, Environment, and Technology, this new BMil program streamlines and focuses the curriculum to better meet the needs of the students and the requirements of the defense sector.

Note: The BMil Programme in Technology and Defence Management replaces the Programme in Technology and Management, and the Programme in War, Environment, and Technology due to insufficient student numbers to sustain two separate programs.
