Assessment Criteria

Steps to Create a Markdown Table:

  1. Open your Markdown editor: Start by opening your preferred Markdown editor or platform where you will be creating the table.

  2. Determine the number of columns you need: Decide on the number of columns your table will have and the content you want to include in each column.

  3. Start with the header row: Begin by creating the header row of your table. Use the pipe symbol (|) to separate each column and hyphens (-) to create the separator line below the header row.

Example:

| Column 1 Header | Column 2 Header | Column 3 Header |
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
  1. Add content rows: Below the header row, add the content rows for your table. Use the pipe symbol to separate the content in each column.

Example:

| Row 1, Column 1 | Row 1, Column 2 | Row 1, Column 3 |
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
| Row 2, Column 1 | Row 2, Column 2 | Row 2, Column 3 |
  1. Format the table: Adjust the alignment and formatting of the table if needed by adding colons to the hyphens under the header row. For example, adding a colon to the left side will left-align the content in that column.

Example with left-aligned content:

| Left-aligned | Center-aligned | Right-aligned |
|:-------------|:---------------:|--------------:|
| Left | Center | Right |
  1. Review and finalize: Check your table for any errors or formatting issues, and make any necessary adjustments before finalizing it.

  2. Save or paste the table: Once you are satisfied with your Markdown table, save your file or paste the table into your Markdown document.
