Purpose and Rationale

The B. Com. (Management) is a formative degree that aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Knowledge and Skills Development: Enable learners to acquire graduate-level knowledge, discipline-specific skills, and applied competence in Commerce and Industry. This will provide them with the necessary tools for personal intellectual growth, gainful employment, and the ability to make meaningful contributions to society.

  2. Problem-Solving and Resource Management: Empower graduates to solve commercial problems both broadly and with specific focus, effectively manage resources, and communicate efficiently. Graduates will also be equipped to contribute to socio-economic transformation in a responsible and ethical manner.

  3. Diversification of Leadership Base: Provide South Africa with a substantial number of commerce graduates, especially from disadvantaged communities. This objective aims to strengthen and diversify the leadership base of innovative and knowledge-based economic and scholarly activities within the country.
