Purpose and Rationale

I am considering pursuing a postgraduate qualification program that offers a comprehensive curriculum in economics with a focus on specialized areas. This program aims to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in:

  1. Econometrics and Statistical Analysis: The program will provide in-depth training in econometric methods and statistical analysis, focusing on their application in policy settings. Graduates will be proficient in utilizing statistical tools to analyze economic data and make informed policy recommendations.

  2. Theoretical Foundations: The program will offer a strong theoretical foundation in various sub-disciplines of economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics. Students will gain a deep understanding of economic theories and concepts, allowing them to analyze complex economic problems and phenomena.

  3. Specialized Economic Analytical Skills: The program aims to produce postgraduates who are theoretically specialized and possess strong economic analytical skills. Graduates will be equipped with the ability to critically evaluate economic theories, conduct advanced economic research, and provide expert economic analysis.

  • Financial Sector: Conducting statistical analysis to track economic trends, assess risk, and make informed decisions for financial institutions.
  • Banking Sector: Utilizing advanced statistical methods to analyze data related to banking operations, customer behavior, and market trends.
  • Private Sector: Providing statistical analysis to support business decision-making, revenue forecasting, and performance evaluation for private companies.
  • Government Sector: Assisting government agencies with economic data analysis, policy evaluation, and trend forecasting to inform public sector decision-making.
  • Integrated Assessment: Developing and implementing simulations to model different economic scenarios and assess their potential impact on various sectors.
  • Written Examinations: Designing and conducting statistical analyses for written exams to evaluate knowledge and understanding of economic trends.
