Purpose and Rationale

The main purpose of this qualification is to provide qualified learners with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of strategic communication management, as well as applied competence in the field of Corporate Communication Management and Research Methodology.

The secondary purposes of the qualification are to provide communication management expertise in the areas of Development Communication, Business and Administrative Communication, International Communication, and Internet Marketing and Communication.

Assessment Criteria

The graduate will have demonstrated that he/she will be able to:

  • Identify corporate communication opportunities and external threats in the environment (do environmental scanning).
  • Analyse internal and external corporate communication.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritise critical communication management issues.
  • Set strategic corporate communication objectives.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate corporate communication plans and strategies.
  • Implement monitoring systems to control plans and strategies.
  • Design contingency plans.
  • Complete internships in organizations to illustrate that he/she has mastered Administrative and Business Communication.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Portfolios.
  • Work-place assessments.
  • Written examinations.
  • Oral examinations and presentations.
  • Other: Practical projects done in teams and geared towards the communication management of specific business issues, individual assignments, individual internships in organizations, workshops.
