Purpose and Rationale

Graduate Outcome Goals

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to practice as registered dietitians and demonstrate the following competencies across various settings such as institutions, private practice, and communities:

  1. Nutritional Assessment

    • Identify nutritional problems and needs through comprehensive assessments.
  2. Nutritional Analysis

    • Determine underlying causes of nutritional manifestations by analyzing diverse factors.
  3. Nutrition Intervention

    • Develop, implement, and evaluate tailored nutrition interventions, education, and programs.
  4. Effective Communication

    • Communicate nutrition information effectively to individuals and groups.
  5. Research Skills

    • Evaluate and conduct research in the field of food and nutrition.
  6. Food and Nutrition Management

    • Manage food and nutrition needs for both individuals and groups effectively.

By aligning our curriculum and training with the standards set by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), we aim to produce graduates who are equipped to meet the demands and challenges of the profession and contribute positively to the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
