Purpose and Rationale

Qualification Purpose

  1. Graduate-level Knowledge: The first purpose of the qualification is to equip qualifiers with in-depth knowledge about the operations of economic and financial systems in South Africa, as well as how they are impacted by the global economy and financial markets.

  2. Economic Analysis: The second purpose is to produce a substantial number of graduates who are capable of conducting assessments and analyses of the South African economy, allowing them to make informed predictions and recommendations.

  3. Policy Understanding: The third purpose is to provide qualifiers with an advanced understanding of economic policy tools like fiscal policy, monetary policy, and labor policy, along with their instruments and implications.
