The first purpose of the qualification is to equip qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge of the functioning of the South African economic and financial systems, as well as basic econometric models.
The second purpose is to produce specialized graduates capable of conducting prognosis, analysis, and forecasting of the South African economy.
The third purpose is to provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge of applying economic and econometric models in practical settings, to assist management or inform policy decisions within the government.
