Purpose and Rationale

Qualifiers:

  1. Possess postgraduate-level knowledge in the field of Molecular Plant Pathology.

  2. Able to understand, apply, and solve concepts related to plant-microbe interactions, plant disease development, developing disease control strategies, molecular aspects of microbial diversity, and host resistance.

  3. Equipped to study the complexity of plant diseases and contribute positively to securing the national food supply by preventing and controlling disease outbreaks in crops through genetic manipulation of plants or pathogens.

Plant Pathology Assessment Criteria

  1. Demonstrate knowledge in plant pathology: Pass written and oral tests and examinations under the supervision of internal and external assessors.

  2. Advanced Procedures Proficiency:

    1. Ability to proficiently and promptly perform advanced plant pathological procedures assessed through laboratory exercises and a research project.
    2. Interpretation and communication of acquired data through laboratory reports.
  3. Problem-solving Skills:

    • Ability to integrate acquired knowledge to solve plant pathology issues through a research assignment.
  4. Scientific Communication:

    1. Collation and presentation of scientific information obtained from current literature.
    2. Presentation of research findings among peers.
