Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology - Engineering and Related Design
The purpose of the qualification is to provide qualified learners who are in possession of a three-year institutions qualification or a four-year Technikon qualification in Geology with additional knowledge in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering and Environmental Science to enable them to effectively communicate with engineers, planners, and other scientists. This qualification aims to facilitate the investigation and research of problems related to the interaction between development/construction projects and the geological environment.
The learner is empowered with basic applied competence in the fields of Soil Mechanics, Rock Mechanics, Hydrogeology, Environmental studies, Report writing, Project management, and Business practices. The qualification is further aimed at lifelong learning through the upgrading of knowledge and skills.
Written examinations: These assessments are typically conducted in a controlled environment where students are required to answer questions or solve problems on paper or electronically. The questions may cover a broad range of topics and require students to demonstrate their understanding of the subject matter.
Oral examinations: In oral examinations, students are assessed through a verbal conversation with an examiner or a panel of examiners. This format allows students to demonstrate their knowledge, communication skills, and critical thinking abilities in a more interactive setting.
Other: Project reports are another common form of assessment in which students are required to research a topic, gather data, analyze findings, and present their results in a written report. This type of assessment allows students to demonstrate their research and writing skills, as well as their ability to think critically and creatively.
