Purpose and Rationale

Qualification Overview:

The aim of this qualification is to expose learners to disciplines within the Geographical Sciences. It is suited for individuals who wish to obtain a background in Geography and acquire skills necessary to address specific questions faced by civil society.

1. Research and Analytical Expertise:

The primary purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with the necessary research and analytical expertise to process and interpret complex environmental issues that are multi-dimensional in nature.

2. Leadership Development:

The secondary purpose is to provide South Africa with a cadre of young experts in the Geographical Sciences who are capable of assuming leadership roles within society and secondary schools.
