Purpose and Rationale

The programme leading to the qualification provides graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills, and values in public management and administration to pursue a career in the Public Sector and related fields. The qualification is rooted in the economic and management sciences, enabling graduates to serve as managers at operational and strategic levels.

Outcomes

Assessment Criteria

Student Proficiency Assessment

Administering and Managing Public Sector Functions:

  • Portfolio: Submit a policy proposal with thorough research and analysis, outlining the process of implementation and potential impact.
  • Simulation: Participate in a simulated scenario where you must make decisions on resource allocation and policy implementation.
  • Work-place Assessment: Complete a task where you demonstrate your ability to organize and manage human resources effectively within a public sector organization.

Financing, Work Methods, and Work Procedures:

  • Portfolio: Develop a budget plan for a public sector project, detailing financing sources and allocation.
  • Simulation: Engage in a scenario where you must optimize work methods and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Written Examination: Answer questions on financial management principles and best practices in public sector organizations.

Control and Co-ordination:

  • Portfolio: Provide examples of how you have successfully controlled and coordinated tasks within a team or project.
  • Work-place Assessment: Demonstrate your ability to effectively control and coordinate multiple aspects of a public sector function in a real-world setting.
  • Oral Examination: Discuss your approach to maintaining control and coordination in a public sector environment, addressing any challenges that may arise.
