Purpose and Rationale

Financial Management Major Objectives

  1. Provide learners with the option to major in Financial Management at the undergraduate level, focusing on teaching concepts and techniques used in business financing, dividends, and investment decisions.

  2. Teach learners how to analyze and interpret business financial statements for various purposes.

  3. Apply the knowledge and skills gained to solve practical financial business management problems effectively.

  4. Prepare learners with a problem-solving approach in their learning journey and instill in them a sense of responsibility towards their future workplaces and the community at large.

Outcomes

  1. Ability to understand financial management concepts and techniques.
  2. Ability to apply skills learned in business financing and investment decisions and to communicate freely with the business community.
  3. Ability to analyse and interpret financial statements for different purposes.
  4. Think contextually and reflect on learning from individual experience and academic disciplines in relation to political, social, cultural, technological and economic realities, locally and globally.
  5. Think and do business or conduct oneself in public in a professional manner. Critical cross-field outcomes:
