Purpose and Rationale

The qualification will:

  • Equip qualifiers with problem-solving skills focused on promoting accountable, ethical, equitable, and sustainable management, governance, and policy-making.
  • Produce a substantial number of (honours) graduates in management and governance to expand South Africa's local leadership pool for innovative and knowledge-based economic and academic endeavors.

Outcomes

  1. Identify, analyse and solve Economic and public sector problems systematically and creatively.
  2. Acquire an understanding of how to manage Economic resources and processes in a public context.
  3. Communicate effectively, in oral and written modes, and to articulate and promote their ideas and interests.
  4. Understand and contribute to the socio-economic challenges of developing South Africa ethically and responsibly.
  5. Appreciate that policymaking contributes to the development of government at the local, regional and national levels.

  2. Manage economic resources and processes in a public context by demonstrating a sound understanding.
  3. Articulate and promote one's ideas and interests via effective oral and written communications.
  4. Demonstrate the contribution to Government by sound policy developing competencies by producing sample policies.

Integrated Assessment:

The institution has adopted a Continuous Assessment System. The assessment consists of several assessment events administered throughout the year. A variety of assessment instruments are used, such as tests, essays, practical reports, and project reports.
