Purpose and Rationale

The qualification will:

  • Equip qualifiers with problem-solving skills to promote accountable, ethical, equitable, and sustainable management, governance, and policy-making.
  • Produce a substantial number of (honours) graduates in management and governance to broaden South Africa's local leadership base for innovative and knowledge-based economic and scholarly initiatives.

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate the ability to identify, analyse and solve Industrial Psychology and public sector problems systematically and creatively.
  2. Acquire an understanding of how to manage Industrial Psychology resources and processes in a public context.
  3. Communicate effectively, in oral and written modes, and to articulate and promote their own ideas and interests.
  4. Understand and contribute to the socio-economic challenges of developing South Africa ethically and responsibly.
  5. Appreciate that policymaking contributes to the development of government at the local, regional and national levels.

Integrated Assessment

The institution has adopted a Continuous Assessment System. The assessment consists of several assessment events administered throughout the year and a variety of assessment instruments are used, such as:

  • Tests
  • Essays
  • Practical reports
  • Project reports

This allows for a comprehensive evaluation of the students' understanding and application of industrial psychology and public sector principles, as well as their ability to communicate effectively and contribute to government policy development.
