Purpose and Rationale

Qualification Description

The aim of this qualification is to provide an opportunity for learners to broaden their knowledge in Woman and Gender Studies within the Faculty of Arts. Acquisition of this qualification enables learners to:

  • Read extensively in the field
  • Become acquainted with classic texts in Woman and Gender Studies
  • Engage in conversations with key thinkers in the discipline
  • Partake in debates with confidence

The solid foundation obtained through this qualification prepares learners for postgraduate research. It facilitates the deepening and broadening of insights in the specified discipline.

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a broad and integrated knowledge of the current scholarly discourse in Woman and Gender Studies.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding through the reading and interpretation of classic and contemporary Woman and Gender Studies texts.
  3. Express Woman and Gender Studies abstract thoughts in a clear, logical and coherent manner in writing.
  4. Reflect the results of an independent Woman and Gender Studies literature survey on a selected topic in a balanced and coherent way.
  5. Demonstrate skills to engage in postgraduate Woman and Gender Studies research.
