Purpose and Rationale

The aim of this qualification is to provide an opportunity for learners to broaden their knowledge in Linguistics within the Faculty of Arts. This program allows participants to read extensively, become familiar with classic texts in the Linguistics discipline, engage in conversations with key thinkers in the field, and participate in debates with confidence. The foundational knowledge acquired through this program prepares learners for postgraduate research, enabling them to not only expand but also deepen their understanding of the discipline as outlined.

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a broad and integrated knowledge of the current scholarly discourse in Linguistics.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding through the reading and interpretation of classic and contemporary Linguistics texts.
  3. Express Linguistics abstract thoughts in a clear, logical and coherent manner in writing.
  4. Reflect the results of an independent Linguistics literature survey on a selected topic in a balanced and coherent way.
  5. Demonstrate skills to engage in post-graduate Linguistics research.
