Purpose and Rationale

Qualification Aim:

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in Latin within the Faculty of Arts. By engaging extensively with classic texts in the Latin discipline, learners will become acquainted with some of the most important thinkers and engage in meaningful conversations and debates. The solid foundation acquired through this process will prepare learners for postgraduate research, enabling them to further broaden and deepen their understanding of the discipline.

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a broad and integrated knowledge of the current scholarly discourse in Latin.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding through the reading and interpretation of classic and contemporary Latin texts.
  3. Express Latin abstract thoughts in a clear, logical and coherent manner in writing.
  4. Reflect the results of an independent Latin literature survey on a selected topic in a balanced and coherent way.
  5. Demonstrate skills to engage in post-graduate Latin research.
