Purpose and Rationale

The aim of this qualification is to provide an opportunity for learners to broaden their knowledge in German within the Faculty of Arts. This program allows students to engage in extensive reading, become familiar with classic texts in the German discipline, participate in conversations with key thinkers, and confidently engage in debates within the field. The foundation established through this program prepares learners for postgraduate research, enabling them to not only broaden but also deepen their understanding of the discipline.

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a broad and integrated knowledge of the current scholarly discourse in German.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding through the reading and interpretation of classic and contemporary German texts.
  3. Express German abstract thoughts in a clear, logical and coherent manner in writing.
  4. Reflect the results of an independent German literature survey on a selected topic in a balanced and coherent way.
  5. Demonstrate skills to engage in post-graduate German research.
