Purpose and Rationale

The aim of this qualification is to provide an opportunity for learners to broaden their knowledge in French within the Faculty of Arts. The program offers extensive reading materials, introduces learners to classic texts in the French discipline, engages them in conversations with key thinkers, and encourages participation in debates with confidence. This foundation equips learners with the necessary skills for postgraduate research, allowing them to not only broaden but also deepen their understanding of the discipline as specified.

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a broad and integrated knowledge of the current scholarly discourse in French.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding through the reading and interpretation of classic and contemporary French texts.
  3. Express French abstract thoughts in a clear, logical and coherent manner in writing.
  4. Reflect the results of an independent French literature survey on a selected topic in a balanced and coherent way.
  5. Demonstrate skills to engage in post-graduate French research.
