Purpose and Rationale

The qualification offers graduates advanced skills, practical competencies, and knowledge in different aspects of dance, preparing them for careers in performance, teaching, and research within the South African cultural sector. Additionally, it enhances learners' appreciation of dance traditions and empowers them to leverage these practices for the advancement and cohesion of all segments of South African society. Through this qualification, individuals will develop a keen eye for evaluating dance performances both as a form of artistic expression and as a means of effective communication.

Outcomes

  1. Understand and critically appreciate the contribution of major artistic and cultural activities and performances to community and national life and participate in such performances and activities.
  2. Use information technology, including the internet, to find and access information efficiently and independently.
  3. Acknowledge the limitations of his or her own expertise and elicit the more appropriate expertise of others.

    • Accurate citation of references.
  • Perspectives:

    • Consider alternative viewpoints.
  • Skills:

    • Computer literacy, critical reasoning, and numeracy.
