Purpose and Rationale

The qualification will:

  1. Enable learners to develop post-graduate level knowledge, discipline-specific skills, and applied competence in Commerce and Industry.
  2. Provide opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful employment, and making a rewarding contribution to society.
  3. Empower post-graduates to solve commercial problems in a general and focused way, effectively managing and allocating resources.
  4. Enhance communication skills and the ability to contribute to socio-economic transformation in a responsible and ethical manner.
  5. Increase the number of commerce post-graduates in South Africa, particularly from disadvantaged communities.
  6. Strengthen and diversify the leadership base of innovative and knowledge-based economic and scholarly activity in the country.

  5. Understand and contribute to the socio-economic challenges of developing South Africa and ethical and responsible manner.

  • The Faculty has adopted a Continuous Assessment System.
  • Assessment consists of a number of assessment events administered throughout the year.
  • A variety of assessment instruments are used (for example: tests, essays, practical reports, project reports).
