Business, Commerce and Management Studies - Generic Management
The B.Com (Hons) is a postgraduate degree that aims to achieve the following objectives:
Development of Knowledge and Skills: The program enables learners to acquire postgraduate level knowledge, discipline-specific skills, and applied competence in Commerce and Industry. This equips them for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful employment, and to make a meaningful contribution to society.
Problem-Solving and Resource Management: Graduates are empowered to address commercial problems in a general and focused manner. They learn how to efficiently manage and allocate resources, communicate effectively, and contribute to socio-economic transformation in a responsible and ethical manner.
Diversity and Inclusivity: The program seeks to provide South Africa with a significant number of commerce postgraduates, especially from disadvantaged communities. This effort aims to strengthen and diversify the leadership base of innovative and knowledge-based economic and scholarly activities in the country.
Integrated assessment: The Faculty has adopted a Continuous Assessment System. Assessment consists of a number of assessment events administered throughout the year, and a variety of assessment instruments are used (for example: tests, essays, and practical reports, project reports).
