Purpose and Rationale

The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geography and Environmental Science aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Knowledge and Skills: To equip learners with post-graduate knowledge, skills, and applied competence in various fields of Geography and Environmental Science. This includes an in-depth understanding of environmental issues, geographical concepts, and research methodologies.

  2. Graduate Output: To produce Honours graduates in Geography and Environmental Science who are well-equipped to contribute to the field. These graduates will possess the necessary expertise to address complex environmental challenges and make informed decisions.

  3. Role in South Africa: Environmental scientists are vital in shaping the future of South Africa. By providing the country with skilled professionals in this field, the program aims to contribute towards sustainable development, conservation efforts, and effective environmental management.

Outcomes

  3. Will demonstrate competence in discussion and communicating information accurately.
