Purpose and Rationale

  1. Goal 1: Equip prospective entrepreneurs with intellectual, entrepreneurial, and practical skills to effectively establish and manage their own business ventures.

  2. Goal 2: Provide potential business managers with the necessary intellectual, entrepreneurial, and practical skills to navigate the dynamic market landscape and efficiently manage businesses.

  3. Goal 3: Prepare learners for advanced studies and growth opportunities in the field of Business Management.

  4. Goal 4: Foster a problem-solving approach in learners' educational journey and instill ethical responsibilities towards their future workplaces and communities.

Outcomes

  1. Identify, analyse, formulate and solve problems in which responses display that responsible decisions using critical and creative thinking have been made.
  2. Working effectively with others as a member of a team, group, organisation and community.
  3. Organising and management oneself and one's activities responsibly and effectively.
  4. Using science and technology effectively and critically showing responsibility towards the environment and health of others.
  5. Communicating using visual aids, mathematical and language skills in the modes of oral and or written persuasion.
  6. Demonstrating an understanding of the world as a set of related systems by recognising that problem-solving contexts do not exist in isolation. Associated assessment outcomes: Solve problems by means of exploring, and critically evaluating abstract and personal situations. Solve problems by generating alternative strategies for dealing with those problems. Establish and manage own business. Manage a business as a professional manager. Be conversant with the functional areas of a business (General Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Public Relations, Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Purchasing Management etc.). Formulate and execute a research study. Compile of a business plan.

Assessment Criteria

  • Qualification is awarded on successful completion of all the prescribed modules to year 3.
  • The following formative and summative continuous assessments apply:
    • Assessments: 50%
    • Assignment/class work: 25%
    • Group Project: 25%
  • Integrated assessment incorporated to ensure that the purpose of the qualification is achieved:
    • Written assessments
    • Oral assessments
    • Other: Group Projects, Assignments
