Purpose and Rationale

  1. The program aims to equip potential business managers with advanced intellectual, entrepreneurial, and practical skills to effectively manage the marketing function in line with dynamic market needs.
  2. The program aims to provide prospective entrepreneurs with advanced intellectual, entrepreneurial, and practical skills to efficiently and effectively manage their own businesses.
  3. The program aims to prepare learners for progression to master's degree qualifications.
  4. The program aims to foster a problem-solving approach in learning, while instilling ethical responsibility towards future workplaces and the larger community in learners.

Outcomes

  1. Ability to manage a marketing department as a professional manager.
  2. Ability to establish and manage own business profitable.
  3. To be conversant with Strategic Marketing, Marketing Communications, Marketing Research, Small Business Management and Research Methodology.
  4. Ability to formulate and execute a research study.
  5. Ability to compile a detailed business plan. Specific critical cross-field outcomes:
  6. Identify, analyse, formulate and solve problems in which responses display that responsible decisions using critical and creative thinking have been made.
  7. Working effectively with others as a member of a team, group, organisation and community.
  8. Organising and management oneself and one's activities responsibly and effectively.
  9. Using science and technology effectively and critically showing responsibility towards the environment and health of others.
  10. Communicating using visual aids, mathematical and language skills in the modes of oral and or written persuasion
  11. Demonstrating an understanding of the world as a set of related systems by recognising that problem-solving contexts do not exist in isolation. Association assessment outcomes:
  12. Solve problems by means of exploring, and critically evaluating abstract and personal situations.
  13. Solve problems by generating alternative strategies for dealing with those problems. Specific outcomes:

Assessment Criteria

Qualification is awarded on successful completion of all the prescribed modules at honours level. In addition, the following formative and summative continuous assessments apply:

  • Qualification is awarded on successful completion of all modules in year 1.
  • Examinations: 50%
  • Assignment/class work: 30%
  • Group Project: 20%

Integrated assessment is incorporated to ensure that the purpose of the degree is achieved through written examinations, oral examinations, group projects, and assignments.
