Purpose and Rationale

a) Focusing on Scientific and Technological Words in Xitsonga Lexicography

In order to improve Xitsonga lexicography, special attention will be given to scientific and technological terminology. Learners will be encouraged to explore and understand these terms in order to accurately translate them into Xitsonga. The goal is to expand the Xitsonga vocabulary in these fields and ensure that there are precise equivalents for all scientific and technological concepts.

b) Linguistic Theory of Translation

Providing learners with a solid understanding of translation theory will be a key focus. By teaching learners about different translation techniques and approaches, we aim to prepare them for careers in translation and interpretation. Through practical exercises and real-world examples, learners will develop the skills needed to accurately and effectively translate between languages.

c) Techniques for Studying Xitsonga Literature

To help learners better understand and analyze Xitsonga literature, various important techniques will be taught. These may include close reading, literary analysis, and critical thinking skills. By engaging with a variety of Xitsonga texts, learners will deepen their understanding of the language and develop their ability to critically engage with literary works.

d) Exploring the Role of Language in Society

An exploration of the role of language in society will be a key component of the curriculum.
