Purpose and Rationale

Physics Program Objectives:

  1. Research and Development Laboratories: Prepare the learner to work in research and development laboratories through advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

  2. Teaching Physical Science: Equip the learner with the necessary knowledge and pedagogical skills to teach Physical Science effectively in schools and colleges.

  3. Diverse Range of Industries: Provide the learner with skills that are adaptable to various industries requiring analytical and mathematical abilities, from physics-related sectors to broader industries.

  4. Analytical and Mathematical Skills: Develop strong analytical and mathematical skills in the learner through rigorous coursework and practical applications.

  5. Postgraduate Studies in Physics: Enable the learner to pursue further postgraduate studies and careers specifically in the field of physics.

  6. Postgraduate Studies in Other Sciences: Facilitate opportunities for the learner to pursue postgraduate studies and careers in other scientific and professional fields beyond physics.

Outcomes

  1. The learner must have a clear understanding of the laws of physics and their applications.
  2. The learner must have developed analytical and mathematical skills to solve problems of the physical world.
  3. The learner must have developed the skills to meaningful and reproducible observations, to convert these observations into practical and mathematical language and to reach logical conclusions.
  4. The learner must have developed the ability to assimilate the skills outlined in this document on his/her own.
  5. The learner must have demonstrated in the practical and tutorial sessions the ability to work as an individual or in a group
  6. The learner must demonstrate the ability to communicate his/her knowledge to professional physicists.
