Purpose and Rationale

The aim of this program is to equip students with a strong foundation in both basic and medical sciences at the postgraduate level. Students will also develop essential skills in performing basic techniques used in Criminalistics, as well as gain specialized knowledge in applied Physics, Chemistry, and Medical Science. This knowledge will serve as a solid basis for further advanced learning in the field.

Furthermore, the program will provide students with an introduction to research methodology, enabling them to apply various research techniques and successfully carry out a research project. This will allow students to develop critical thinking skills, scientific inquiry, and the ability to contribute to the body of knowledge in their chosen field.

Outcomes

  1. Obtain sound knowledge of Medical Criminalistics.
  2. Apply routine techniques.
  3. Execute a research project under supervision, analyse data and apply basic statistics.
  4. Write a research report in the format to be submitted to a peer review journal.

Assessment Criteria

The student demonstrates appropriate theoretical knowledge by accurately discussing relevant scientific concepts and theories in the research report. They exhibit sufficient skill in performing techniques by conducting experiments accurately and following proper protocols in the laboratory. The student takes responsibility for interpreting and reporting results correctly by analyzing data accurately and drawing appropriate conclusions based on the findings.

The research report is written according to scientific norms, including a clear introduction, methods section, results section, and discussion. The report follows the appropriate format for scientific writing and includes references to relevant literature to support the research findings.

Assessment methods include work-place assessments, written examinations, oral examinations, oral presentations of seminars, research projects, and journals, written presentations of seminars and research projects, laboratory work assessments, tutorial exercises in problem-solving, research reports, computer-based assessments, written seminars in the format of review articles in scientific journals, oral presentations of articles from journals and seminars, as well as research reports, oral tests, written tests, and written examinations.

Overall, the student demonstrates a strong understanding of the subject matter, performs well in practical applications, and effectively communicates their research findings in a scientific manner.
