Agriculture and Nature Conservation - Primary Agriculture
The first purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifiers with specialized knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in the field of Soil Science. This will enable them to experience continued personal intellectual growth, engage in gainful economic activity, and make rewarding contributions to society.
The second purpose of this qualification is to supply Southern Africa with Soil Science specialists who possess a clear understanding of the soil. This understanding is based on sound knowledge and comprehension of mathematics, chemistry, and physics.
Assessment in this course will be comprehensive and varied, encompassing written, oral, and practical examinations. These assessments will be overseen by both internal and external assessors to ensure a well-rounded evaluation.
The assessment methods will also include seminars, assignments, practicals, excursions, and projects, with subsequent reporting. Students will be required to compile portfolios, participate in simulations, and undergo work-place assessments to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.
Integrated assessment strategies will be utilized to provide a holistic view of each student's performance. This may include a combination of written and oral examinations, as well as tests, practicals, excursions, projects, and assignments. Additionally, seminars will be used to gauge students' understanding and ability to communicate effectively.
Interpersonal communication skills will be assessed throughout the course, with a focus on case studies to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
