Purpose and Rationale

Qualification: Master of Engineering

Purpose of the Qualification

The purpose of the Master of Engineering qualification is as follows:

  • To provide additional depth and specialisation in a number of engineering disciplines, in alignment with the needs of the South African and international industry as well as the engineering profession.
  • To offer continued education at a postgraduate level in engineering science and technology for practicing engineers.
  • To provide advanced and in-depth understanding and competence in various engineering disciplines, serving as preparation for engagement in masters or other engineering research programmes.
