Advanced Diploma in Management Sciences

Business, Commerce and Management Studies - Generic Management

Purpose and Rationale

Purpose: The Advanced Diploma in Management Services is a vocational qualification aimed at individuals who have completed the Diploma in Management Services and wish to further enhance their skills and competencies. The qualification caters to the needs of both public and private sectors by providing employees with essential critical, analytical, and organizational skills in key management and business disciplines including Marketing, Retail, Public Relations, Operations, Quality Management, Human Resources, Business Law, and Business Administration.

Rationale: The need for the Advanced Diploma in Management Services arose as the Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) qualifications were not aligned with the existing Diploma qualifications. To address this misalignment, the decision was made to replace the outdated B Tech qualifications with the more relevant Advanced Diploma qualifications. Additionally, the significant changes in the business environment over the last two decades have rendered many B Tech qualifications obsolete.

Given the shortage of individuals in both public and private sectors who possess the necessary management knowledge and skills to effectively carry out their responsibilities, the Advanced Diploma in Management Services serves as a timely and valuable opportunity to introduce a curriculum that is more up-to-date and suitable for today's business landscape. This diploma is specifically designed for individuals in junior and/or middle management positions, as well as those aspiring to such roles, seeking to enhance their career prospects by obtaining this qualification.
