Purpose and Rationale
Qualification Title: Social Sciences: Communication and Social Issues
Purpose:
The qualification aims to develop learners who are able to communicate about social issues using clear arguments grounded in strong theoretical and/or research-based foundations.
Rationale:
- The qualification intends to equip learners with the ability to utilize their knowledge, theoretical understanding, and research skills to contribute to societal improvement.
- Learners will learn to apply their knowledge, skills, principles, and methods to identify and analyze the needs and root causes of problems affecting individuals, groups, and societies.
- The qualification seeks to foster learners who have the opportunity to explore various values, including their own, and who can internalize the essence of ethical social science practices.
Outcomes
- Use their knowledge, theoretical understanding and research skills in order to improve society.
